Disclosed is a chewing gum composition comprising a chewing gum base; a pharmaceutically active ingredient or vitamin, mineral or other nutritional supplement; a polymeric material; and one or more sweetening or flavouring agents; wherein the polymeric material is amphiphilic, has a straight or branched chain carbon-carbon backbone and a multiplicity of side chains attached to the backbone. A method of forming said chewing gum composition is also disclosed, wherein the method comprises the steps of: (i) forming a chewing gum base by mixing an elastomeric material optionally with one or more elastomer plasticisers, softeners, fillers, emulsifiers and waxes; and (ii) adding a pharmaceutically active ingredient, vitamin, mineral or other nutritional supplement to the gum base together with one or more sweetening or flavouring agents, to form a chewing gum composition; wherein a polymeric material which is amphiphilic and has a straight or branched chain carbon-carbon backbone and a multiplicity of side chains attached to the backbone, is added to the chewing gum base in step (i), and/or to the chewing gum composition in step (ii).
