The object of the present invention is a new cryopolymerization process that allows to obtain crosslinked polymeric materials in the form of a macroporous gel (cryogel) capable of sequestering (neutralize) the anticoagulant heparin, its low molecular weight derivatives (LMWH and ULMWH) and heparinoids, from aqueous solutions, physiological solutions and biological fluids, such as whole blood, serum and plasma. 2. Process for the synthesis of crosslinked polymeric materials in the form of a macroporous gel according to claim 1 , wherein the solution is an aqueous solution claim 1 , or it is comprised of a polar organic solvent claim 1 , preferably selected from dimethylsulfoxide claim 1 , dioxane claim 1 , acetamide claim 1 , tert-butyl alcohol claim 1 , or a mixture thereof claim 1 , more preferably being an aqueous solution.3. Process for the synthesis of crosslinked polymeric materials in the form of a macroporous gel according to any one of the preceding claims claim 1 , wherein named Q the ratio between HEMA moles and HEMA-R moles claim 1 , preferred values for Q are 3 claim 1 , 1 or 0.33.4.
