Tools are provided to assist users of cloud computing systems to create, monitor, and debug the resource instances they need. Specifically, resource instances are created in a cloud computing system based on a blueprint that is provided to a blueprint processor. The blueprint declaratively defines the resources that the user needs to have created in the cloud. Based on the information contained in blueprint, the blueprint processor causes the cloud to orchestrate the creation of resource instances, doing so in parallel when possible, and to configure those resource instances as specified in blueprint. Techniques are described for generating a timeline to convey status during the deployment process, and for performing debugging operations. 1. The effect is shown diagrammatically in Fig. 2, in which the fields due to the armature and commutating-coils are respectively plotted against peripheral distance at Z aod Y, the resulting field being shown at X. The graded field is attained by winding, in addition to the ordinary winding C, Fig. 4, on a commutating- pole, an extra coil B carrying a current proportional to the armature current. This coil may be arranged in slots in the pole parallel with, or slightly oblique to, the axis of rotation. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 7, the compensating- winding D is arranged with its magnetic axis O Q advanced in the direction of rotation ahead of that O P, of the armature winding A, instead of coinciding therewith, the conductors D being so distributed in the commutating region as to provide a graded field to give commutation with uniformcurrent density.

In the construction shown in Fig. IV, the edge is serrated or notched with the teeth between the notches sharp or rounded. The modifications shown in Figs. V and VI may be used on machines adapted to rotate in both directions.

The lights are compared by turning them at the surfaces I, I, through a diagram D, a fragment of which is shown enlarged in Fig. 1, and observing them through the telescope X. The instrument is shifted along the line L-S till a balance is obtained. The test is best applied by observing the part of the diagram which is just becoming indistinct for want of illumination. Such a part may be obtained by altering the size of the image or its illumination by optical methods, such as a concave lens, or a diaphragm, or the distinctness of different parts of the diaphragm may vary, as shown in Fig. 1, or a combination of these methods may be employed.
