A piston for an internal combustion engine may include a piston head and a piston skirt. The piston skirt may have piston bosses provided with boss bores. The piston bosses may be connected to each other at running surfaces. The running surfaces may be provided at least partially with a coating which is sprayed using a cold gas method. The material of the coating may be selected from the group comprising at least one of nickel, iron, copper, nickel-based alloys, iron-based alloys, copper-nickel-tin-based alloys and copper-tin-silver-based alloys.

A method of applying an anti-friction coating to a piston assembly is provided including applying an anti-friction coating to at least a portion of the surface area of a piston. The method of claim 1 , wherein said first curing energy comprises one of infra-red radiation claim 1 , ultra-violet radiation claim 1 , and induction radiation.3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:subjecting said piston to a second curing energy after applying said first curing energy.4. The method of claim 3 , wherein said second curing energy comprises hot air convection.5. The method of claim 3 , wherein said second curing energy comprises one of infra-red radiation claim 3 , ultra-violet radiation claim 3 , and inductive radiation.6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the binder matrix comprises a polymer matrix comprising one of polyamide-imide claim 1 , polyetheretherketone claim 1 , polyetherketone claim 1 , polyetherketoneketone claim 1 , polyaryletherketone and epoxy resin.7. The method of claim 1 , wherein said anti-friction coating further comprises metallic pigments.8. The method of claim 7 , wherein said metallic pigments react with said localized curing energy to generate regional curing thermal energy.9. A piston for an internal combustion engine may include a shaft. A dual-layer coating with an inner layer and an outer layer may be applied to the shaft. The inner layer may include organic binders and solid lubricants. The inner layer may also include hard material particles of at least one of tungsten disulphide (WS 2 ), tungsten carbide (WC), silicon carbide (SiC), and aluminium oxide (Al 2 O 3 ). The outer layer may include inorganic binders, may be air-hardening, and may have a lower wear resistance than the inner layer.

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Verbinden eines ersten Bauteils (2) mit einem zweiten Bauteil (4) mittels Laserschweißen. Um dabei Verschmutzungen durch Schweißperlen zu vermeiden und zugleich eine hohe Qualität einer Schweißnaht (13) gewährleisten zu können, ist vorgesehen, - dass an einer ersten axialen Fügefläche (17) des ersten Bauteils (2) und/oder an einer zweiten axialen Fügefläche (18) des zweiten Bauteils (4) zumindest eine Entlüftungskontur (7, 7') eingebracht wird, über die zwischen den beiden miteinander zu verbindenden Bauteilen (2, 4) vorhandenes Gas, insbesondere Luft, während des Laserschweißens entweichen kann, - dass das erste Bauteil (2) über die erste axiale Fügefläche (17) mit Passung mit der zweiten axialen Fügefläche (18) des zweiten Bauteils (4) verbunden wird, - dass die beiden Bauteile (2, 4) mittels Laserschweißen miteinander verbunden werden.

A method for machining an annular groove, which is circumferential in a circumferential direction, on a cylindrical outer circumferential surface of a component is disclosed. The annular groove may have two lateral groove walls and a groove base transitioning into the two lateral groove walls in a respective transition region of two transition regions. The method may include contacting the groove base with a free end of a tool. The free end may include two lateral convex regions and a withdrawn region arranged therebetween. The method may further include reinforcing the annular groove such that the two transition regions of the annular groove are reinforced more strongly than a centre region of the groove base.
