A process for production of chlorine dioxide which is substantially free of by product chlorine. Chlorinedioxide is produced from an alkali metal chlorate, a mineral acid and a reducing agent such as methanol in a reaction medium maintained at an acid normality of less than 9 and with a high chlorate molarity. The process is carried out in the substantial absence of additional chloride ion being fed to the process. It has been found that increasing the chlorate concentration at a given acid normality reduces the amount of chloride in the reaction medium thus reducing the amount of chlorine by-product. The process is carried out in a vessel operated under subatmospheric pressure, whereby water is evaporated and withdrawn together with chlorine dioxide and the alkali metal salt of the mineral acid is crystallized within the reaction vessel and withdrawn therefrom. The present invention relates to a process for production of chlorine dioxide by reacting in a reaction vessel an alkali metal chlorate, sulfuric acid and methanol as a reducing agent. A reaction medium is maintained at a temperature from about 50°C to about 100°C and is subjected to a subatmospheric pressure sufficient to effect evapora-tion of water whereby a mixture of clorine dioxide and water vapour is withdrawn from an evaporation region in the reaction vessel and alkali metal sulfate is precipita-ted in a crystallization region in the reaction vessel. Raw methanol purified by separation and adsorption is used as reducing agent. The raw methanol is purified by dilution with water whereby an unpolar phase is separated and the remaining methanol-water phase is contacted by an adsorbing agent. The adsorbing agents used can be zeolites, active carbon or polymer adsorbing agents.

SOLUTION: Sodium chlorate, sulfate and methanol are supplied to a chlorine dioxide generator 1, and kept at a temperature sufficient for an acid aqueous reaction medium to boil under reduced pressure inside the generator. Chlorate ions are reduced by the methanol and chlorine dioxide gas is produced, and the produced chlorine dioxide gas is taken out together with evaporated water. The present invention proposes to use the cell access classes. A unique subset of the first ten access classes is allocated to each sharing partner. Each operator then assigns the given set of access classes among its subscribers. In areas (3A, 3B) where only subscribers of one of the sharing partners should have access to the radio network, the cell's access restriction is set to only allow customers from one of the uniquely assigned sets of access classes, i.e. the ones corresponding to the sharing partner.
