The invention relates to Fischer-Tropsch synthesis in its compact form. A compact reactor comprises a housing having rectangular reaction channels accommodated therein and filled with a cobalt catalyst, nozzles for injecting synthesis gas in an amount determined by the ratio of the number of channels to the number of synthesis gas injection nozzles, and a nozzle for injecting and withdrawing a heat-transfer agent, on which nozzle a pressure regulator and an assembly for the withdrawal of synthetic hydrocarbons is arranged. The cobalt catalyst is activated by passing oxygen through the same. Synthetic hydrocarbons are obtained when synthesis gas is passed through the reaction channels of the reactor, which are filled with activated cobalt catalyst. Every 300-500 hours, the flow rate of the synthesis gas is increased, and then there is a return to the initial process conditions. This allows high-molecular hydrocarbon output per unit mass of the reactor to be achieved.
