Embodiments described herein relate to synchronizing configuration information between devices associated with a user. The synchronized configuration information can relate to application installations and uninstallations as well as to user modifications to user interfaces for managing and invoking the applications. For example, layouts of application representations provided by respective application launchers on a user's respective devices are kept automatically synchronized when the user modifies any of the layouts. Installations and uninstallations are similarly synchronized between the user's devices. Installations and uninstallations that might stem from synchronization may be circumscribed in various ways, such as by allowing the user to specify whether specific applications are to be installed/uninstalled only on specific devices or globally, by filtering propagation of synchronization updates according to hardware or software features and incompatibilities, or others. 1. A user identifies either an application window currently running on the computer or a new application to be started. The user also identifies a size, shape, and screen location by inputting a geometric shape, such as by drawing a rectangle with a pen or stylus input device, on the display screen. The appearance of the application window is set based on the geometric shape. Scrolling or dragging information on a display includes various elements. A panning tool is provided that may scroll information, such as a web page, on a display in tandem with movement of a cursor. If interactive elements are present on the page or document, an interactive element may be activated as desired. Scrolling may be accomplished with the panning tool either on non-interactive elements or interactive elements that are not required to be activated. Furthermore, inertia of movement of the information on a display is optimized and autoscrolling is provided in which a page or document may be scrolled without dragging.

One or more profiles of user activity on a computing device are created. A drain rate for each profile of user activity is determined and stored. An analysis of the user activities being engaged in on the computing device is conducted, and a profile of user activity is determined to describe the user activities. An amount of remaining charge stored in the battery is determined, and the period of time that the battery will provide sufficient charge to the computing device is determined based on the amount of remaining charge and on the drain rate at which charge is drained from the battery for the determined profile of user activity. 1. In various embodiments, methods, systems, and non-transitory computer-readable media are disclosed that allow a desktop integration framework to optimize retrieval of custom string resources from resource bundles hosted by server computer systems. A client computer that uses a document as a user interface to a web-server application hosted by a server-computer system can determine which custom string resources are to be utilized in the document. The client computer system can request only the custom string resources that are determined to be utilized in the document from the server-computer system in a single request thereby optimizing retrieval without requesting entire resource bundles.

Abstract An improved carding process utilizing a brush attached to a cylinder carding machine for inhibiting the buildup of napped fibers. Mounted just downstream of the transfer region between cylinders where carding takes place, the brush is stationary with respect to the revolving cylinders. The brush is disposed across the face of the carding drum, with the nylon bristles of the brush engaged in the card-cloth wires of the drum. The bristles continuously brush, straighten and force napped fibers down into the wires of the carding cylinder, which results in a thicker, heavier web of carded fibers and virtually eliminates buildup of fluffy fibers on the carding drum as well as the input drum.

Titanium phosphate, believed to be the pyrophosphate TiP2O7, is prepared by simultaneously introducing a titanium tetrahalide and phosphoric acid or soluble salt of phosphoric acid, e.g. NH4H2PO4, into an aqueous liquid; recovering the titanium phosphate precipitate thus formed and then heating the precipitate. The titanium tetrahalide is preferably the tetrachloride, the pH of the aqueous liquid is preferably below 7, the precipitation being performed in the presence of excess phosphoric acid or soluble salt thereof, e.g. 1-50 gm./litre estimated as H3PO4. The titanium tetrahalide, the phosphoric acid, and the salt of phosphoric acid may be introduced as aqueous solutions, and are preferably introduced into the aqueous liquid at a rate such that no local excess of titanium tetrahalide occurs in the solution. The aqueous solution may be heated preferably to its b.pt. during the addition of the reactants or the reactants may be added and the solution subsequently heated. The halide solution used has a concentration of preferably 25-220 gms./litre (estimated as TiO2) and the precipitate produced may before separation be mixed with phosphoric acid or an aqueous solution of a salt thereof and boiled. The ppt. is then separated, dried and ground and heated at a temperature in the range 750 DEG to 1100 DEG C. and subsequently milled to produce a mean crystal size of 0.1 to 2 microns. After recovery but before heating, a compound which reduces the temperature to which the titanium phosphate must be heated to form a pigment may be added to the titanium phosphate precipitate. The preferred compound is potassium phosphate and it is added in an amount sufficient to give a concentration before heating (estimated as potassium) of at least 0.05% by weight, preferably 0.1% to 2% by weight.
