The flange of the cover bears via an electric sealing ring against the flange of the opening, and the cover is designed to resist internal pressure, slewing on the silo by means of a bearing at one side of the opening. The slewing of the cover is outside the sealing ring and at right angles to the plane of the opening flange, and the cover is prevented from sliding axially on this axis. On the opposite side of the opening the cover is prevented, when in the closed position, from lifting off it by a stop fixed to the silo. The sealing ring is inflated by gas or fluit under pressure, so as to bridge the gap between silo and cover necessary to allow the latter to swing open.

The road bulk carrier has several cylindrical tank sections which are arranged in line on the lorry, with the cylindrical sections horizontal, and with no dead space between the sections. The sections are hinged to each other on alternate upper and lower transverse edges, with securing bolts to hold them together. When the bolts are withdrawn and the sections tilted by a set of hydraulic rams the adjacent sections tilt in opposite ways. The discharge ports are positioned under the bottom corners of the tanks and are directed downwards when the tanks are tilted. The carrier has a greater capacity than one with vertical sets of tanks and can carry the tanks slung between the chassis for stability.

The silo is for free-flowing bulk material, tipping about a transverse axis at the rear end of the semi-trailer to bring the discharge devices into the working position. It is stiffened by a sleeve to make it self-supporting, the sleeve being composed of a larger cylindrical rear section and a smaller front one joined by a taper section to keep the tops of both in a common plane. The swan-necked portion of the trailer chassis extends into the free space left below the smaller front section. The silo proper is divided by partitions into a number of chambers in a row in the travel direction and so as to leave vacant spaces between adjacent chambers, and curving outwards in relation to them. In the tipped position, discharge devices at the rear of each chamber are brought into the working position.

The measuring frame is braced on the vehicle frame by supports at the corners of a base surface. All the supports are vertically adjustable control elements. A levelling meter is mounted on the measuring frame and acts as a sensor to control operation of the control elements. The base surface is an isosceles, preferably equilateral triangle, at whose point the measuring frame is mounted on gimbals on a rigid support to pivot about two horizontal spindles at right angles and intersecting, one of which is parallel to the base of the triangle which connects the two triangle corners equipped with control elements.

Equipment for pneumatic conveying of granular or powdery goods includes a suction equipment with a vacuum pump coupled through a vessel with a suction nozzle for lifting the conveyed goods. The equipment incorporates two vessels and at least one additional compressor and both the vessels are alternatively used for suction and pressure conveying. Each vessel when used for pressure conveying is coupled to a pressure line. The equipment is mounted on a frame which is suitable to be carried by a transport vehicle. Each vessel is fitted with at least one inlet for compressed air and with an outlet at its bottom for the conveyed goods. In addition each vessel is fitted at the top with a suction outlet and suction inlet.

The outlet is for use with a silo subjected to internal pressure, and in the discharge position has a vertical axis, being in the form of a truncated cone widening in the upwards direction towards the main part of the silo. A tapered outlet connector for use with a piping system is detachably flange-mounted onto it, an elastic sealing ring being fitted between the two. Each screw holding the flange in place has a stirrup pivot-mounted on the outside of the outlet cone and swinging towards the centre line of the latter, so that its lower free end hooks round the flange. In this free end there is a screw bearing against the flange. The sealing ring is inflated by gas or fluid under pressure.
