The assembly has a damper cylinder (13) which is sub-divided into two chambers (13a,b) by a piston (5) moved by a connecting rod (3). Vapour is discharged through a valve (1) whose valve faces (29) are above the main part of the valve body (27). Passages (5a,b) past the valve seats are covered by the valve disc (15). The valve seat is covered by a circular valve disc in contact with a spring (21). A flow reversal disc (17) is of a thickness (s) less than that (S) of the valve disk and is arranged concentric to it. The reverse flow disc movement is dependent upon the direction of gas flow to the valve disc. The gas valve has an initial opening cross-sectional which is the sum of that admitted by the first (23) and second (25) discs. The second (25) pre-opening cross-section is determined by the reverse flow disc.

The line of action of the one spring (6) lies just within the line between the pivot centres. In operation the coupling is engaged until the centrifugal force is sufficient to move the line of action of the spring (6) above the dead point and the coupling disengages with a snap action. When the speed falls the second spring (7) moves the weights until the spring (6) action crosses over the dead point again and the coupling engages with a snap action.

A vibration damper with a hydraulic-mechanical pressure stop includes a cylinder filled with damping medium; a piston rod movable in and out of the cylinder, a first piston fixed to the piston rod with freedom of axial movement, a second piston spaced from the first piston, a transfer spring in the second working space for moving the second piston toward the third working space in response to movement of the first piston toward the second working space; and a disk valve which allows damping medium to flow from the third working space through the second piston to the second working space as the second piston moves toward the third working space. The first piston divides the cylinder into a first and a second working space where the piston rod extends through the first working space. The second piston separates the second working space from a third working space.

The object of the invention is to provide a hydraulic compression stop with a piston speed-dependent damping-force characteristic which can easily be configured for a required fixed stop damping. This is achieved by the provision of a compression stop valve interacting with a control spool. This compression stop valve has a valve disc which, with the control spool forms an opening which can be varied as a function of the pressure, while a throttling (choke) orifice provided with a throttle opening is arranged at an axial distance downstream of the valve disc. This throttling orifice limits the stroke of the valve disc, and the throttle opening is partially covered by the valve disc.

The invention is directed to a spring strut for motor vehicles comprising a hydropneumatic vibration damper and a supporting spring. The vibration damper has a piston rod connected with a piston and is axially guided in a piston rod guide at the end of a container. The piston rod is outwardly sealed by a piston rod seal. The piston rod guide comprises a damping valve acted upon by external forces, such as the force of the supporting spring arranged between a structural component part connected with the vehicle and a spring carrier surrounding the container of the spring strut. The spring carrier acts on the damping valve with a contact surface. The supporting spring and/or the spring carrier cooperates with at least one auxiliary device exerting a force. The auxiliary device is supported at the container by a structural component part that is fixed with respect to the container or at a vehicle part which is connected with the container.
