A timer measures a time period corresponding to the electro-kinetic system and causes an indicator light to illuminate when the measured period reaches a threshold. An arc sensing circuit detects arcing between the first and second electrode arrays of the electro-kinetic system. The electro-kinetic system is turned off in response to arcing being detected by the arc sensing circuit. An indicator light can also specify that arcing has been detected.

An ion generator is disposed within the housing, the ion generator being adapted to create an airflow between the inlet and the outlet. The ion generator can comprise a emitter electrode array and a collector electrode array, with a voltage generator electrically connecting the arrays. A grid having a photocatalytic coating can further be disposed within the housing such that the grid is upstream of the arrays, and within an airflow generated by the ion generator. An activator, for example a UV lamp, can still further be disposed within the housing and upstream of the arrays, and positioned such that the grid is irradiated by UV light from the UV lamp, activating the photocatalyst and causing VOCs to breakdown in the presence of the photocatalyst.

The toy can be programmed to rotate the aperture at given time intervals, so the pet can receive treats on a predetermined schedule while the owner is away. The motor assembly also contains a means of noise generation during the rotating action to attract the pet to come and play with the toy.

The catalytic steam reformer is then turned down to a fraction of design capacity while a gasifier produces the needed hydrogen. During the turned down state of the catalytic steam reformer, more of a hydrogen-containing stream formed from gasifier effluent is fed to the catalytic steam reformer as a feed thereby reducing the flow rate of feedstock required for the catalytic steam reformer in the turned down state. Optionally, hydrogen mixtures from the catalytic steam reformer and gasifier are fed to one or more adsorbers for hydrogen purification and adsorber effluent is fired as fuel in the steam reformer furnace to provide a majority of the heat needed for the reforming reaction.

An integrally shielded germicidal lamp to selectively direct UV light emitted preferably within an air transporting and/or conditioning system. The system comprises a housing, an emitter electrode configured within the housing, a collector electrode configured within the housing and positioned downstream from the emitter electrode, and a therefrom. The system preferably includes a dirver electrode is preferably removable from the housing through a side portion of the housing. Preferably, the driver electrode is insulated with a dielectric material and/or a catalyst. Preferably, a removable trailing electrode is configured within the housing and downstream of the collector electrode. Preferably, a first voltage source electrically is coupled to the emitter electrode and the collector electrode, and a second voltage source electrically is coupled to the trailing electrode. The second voltage source is independently and selectively controllable of the first voltage source.

A storage device features a processor and a random number generation which are communicatively coupled to a memory. The memory comprises an access control logic that is configured to (i) transmit a first message that comprises information associated with a random number generated by the random number generator and a first keying material, (ii) receive a second message in response to the first message, the second message comprises information generated using at least the random number, (iii) recover information from the second message, the recovered information comprises information generated using at least pre-stored keying material and a return value being based on the random number, (iv) compare the return value from the recovered information with the random number, and (v) alter an operating state of the storage device from a locked state to an unlocked state upon the return value matching the random number, the unlocked state allows one or more devices to control storage device including accessing stored content within the storage device.
