In some embodiments, a nanocellulose structure may include a nanocellulose foam comprising at least one of a carboxylate group, a hydroxyl group, or a sulfate group bonded to an active ingredient. An energy storage system (ESS) protection system includes: a battery monitoring system (BMS) configured to transmit a protection signal when an internal state or an external state of a battery cell is abnormal; a power conversion system (PCS) connected to the BMS through a hard wire, and configured to receive the protection signal through the hard wire; and an energy management system (EMS) connected between the BMS and the PCS through a universal communication line, and configured to receive the protection signal from the BMS and transmit the protection signal to the PCS. The PCS may be configured to perform an ESS shutdown when the PCS receives the protection signal through the hard wire or the universal communication line. 1. An energy storage system (ESS) protection system , comprising:a battery monitoring system (BMS) configured to transmit a protection signal when an internal state or an external state of a battery cell is abnormal;a power conversion system (PCS) connected to the BMS through a hard wire, and configured to receive the protection signal through the hard wire; andan energy management system (EMS) connected between the BMS and the PCS through a universal communication line, and configured to receive the protection signal from the BMS and transmit the protection signal to the PCS,wherein the PCS is configured to perform an ESS shutdown when the PCS receives the protection signal through the hard wire or the universal communication line.2. According to the tilt-adjusting method and apparatus, when data on an optical disc with a tilt defect is reproduced, quantified jitter values being fed back are adjusted. By preprocessing the values in a variety of ways and using the preprocessed jitter data in tilt adjusting, the reproduction performance of an optical recording and/or reproducing apparatuses can be improved in spite of the tilt defect of the disc.

An additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) generator for use in a communications system includes a microprocessor for determining a coefficient by multiplying a signal to noise ratio (SNR) with a value of a Gaussian density function, a memory device for storing the coefficient, a random number generator for generating N-bit address which is used to access a coefficient stored in the memory device, an adder for adding the coefficient accessed from the memory device by using the N-bit address to an input signal in a digital domain, and a digital/analog converter for converting a digital output of the adder into an analog signal. The AWGN generator shows flat frequency response at a slow symbol rate, e.g., a symbol rate of an input channel signal and, therefore, the channel signal and the AWGN signal may be added easily in the digital domain.

A method of separating components having a given negative or positive charge and contained in a sample is disclosed. The method involves, in one embodiment, loading a microchannel with a sample, placed between a trailing- edge electrolyte having a selected concentration of a titratable species, and a leading-edge electrolyte. With the application of a voltage potential across the microchannel, charged components in the sample stack by isotachophoresis, and electrolytic hydroxyl or hydrogen ions formed by electrolysis at the upstream-end electrode migrate into the trailing-edge ion buffer, titrating the titratable species therein, where the concentration of the titratable species in the trailing-edge electrolyte is selected, in relation to the lengths of the upstream channel region and sample-loading volume, to permit the sample to stack into a relatively small sample volume before electrolytic-ion migration from the upstream electrode into and through the sample-volume region is effective to overtake the charged sample components. With continued application of an electric potential across the channel ends, charged sample components in the stacked sample volume separate by zone electrophoresis.

In the present invention, a cyclical shifted-and-combined (CSC) code is generated by intercepting sub-codes from a full code and combining the sub-codes with an equal gain.
