The present invention relates to new delivery systems for cyclopropene compounds of a cyclopropene compound generator comprising at least one substrate, a material containing at least one cyclopropene compound and a release agent whereby at least one side of one substrate is coated with the material containing at least one cyclopropene compound and wherein when the material containing at least one cyclopropene compound is exposed to the release agent, a gaseous cyclopropene compound is released. The present invention also provides methods to release a cyclopropene compound from such a generator to deliver a cyclopropene compound to plants, fruits, flowers or vegetables to inhibit an ethylene response in the plants, fruits, flowers or vegetable.

Provided are methods for reducing the size of solid particles based on surprising results that storage with molecular sieves for a period of time can significantly reduce particle sizes. The solid particles may comprise an inclusion complex of a molecular encapsulating agent and a cyclopropene compound. The method comprises mixing a collection of the solid particles with molecular sieves and storing the mixture for a period of time. 1. A method for reducing the size of solid particles , comprising:(a) providing a collection of the solid particles;(b) preparing a mixture by mixing ingredients comprising the collection of the solid particles of step (a) and molecular sieves at a first temperature of 50° C. or lower; and(c) storing the mixture of step (b) for a pre-determined period of time at a second temperature of 50° C. or lower.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the solid particles of step (a) comprise an inclusion complex of a molecular encapsulating agent and a cyclopropene compound.4. The method of claim 3 , wherein R is Calkyl.5. The method of claim 3 , wherein R is methyl.7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the cyclopropene compound comprises 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP).8. Disclosed is a process for making a composition, wherein the composition comprises one or more cyclopropene complex, wherein the mole ratio of cyclopropene in said composition to molecular encapsulating agent in said composition is 0.92:1 or higher, wherein said process comprises the steps of (i) adding water, cyclopropene, and molecular encapsulating agent to a continuous reactor with residence time of 15 minutes or longer, (ii) removing material from said continuous reactor, wherein said material comprises water and cyclopropene complex, and (iii) subsequently removing water from said material to form said composition, wherein, after said step of removing water, the amount of water remaining in said composition is 0-10% by weight based on the weight of said composition. Also disclosed is the composition when made by the above process.
