Disclosed are biomarkers, methods and assay kits for the identification of cancer patients who are predicted to benefit, or not to benefit, from the therapeutic administration of an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor. The biomarkers of the present invention include detection of EGFR and HER 2 gene amplification and polysomy, EGFR protein expression, EGFR mutations, phosphorylated Akt protein expression, and various combinations of such biomarkers, as well as the combination of these biomarkers with mutations in the tyrosine kinase domain of the EGFR gene. Increased EGFR gene copy number, increased HER2 gene copy number, increased EGFR protein expression, activated AKT protein expression (phosphorylated AKT) and EGFR mutations are all associated with better outcome for cancer patients treated with EGFR inhibitors. The invention provides a diagnostic paradigm based on each of these tests and combinations of these tests to select cancer patients who will benefit from EGFR inhibitor therapy, as well as a diagnostic paradigm to select cancer patients who will not benefit from EGFR inhibitor therapy. 1. A method to obtain an expression score to evaluate gene expression in a tissue specimen obtained from a person having or suspected of having cancer comprising:a) determining by immunohistochemistry a fraction score, wherein the fraction score corresponds to the percentage of cells in the tissue specimen that stain positive for a biomarker;b) determining an intensity score that corresponds to the staining intensity of the biomarker in the sample of tumor cells;c) calculating an expression score that is a numerical evaluation of the product of the fraction score and the intensity score.2. An antenna structure , comprising:a coupler-antenna comprising a first antenna port to transmit electromagnetic signals, a second antenna port to receive electromagnetic signals, and a conductive element between the first antenna port and the second antenna port,wherein the coupler-antenna is coupled to a ground plane chassis of a communications device, andwherein the conductive element of the coupler-antenna is configured to achieve differential excitation to effect an approximately orthogonal modal excitation of the ground plane chassis from the first antenna port to the second antenna port.2. The antenna structure of claim 1 , wherein the coupler-antenna supports common resonant modes and differential resonant modes of the ground plane chassis.3. The antenna structure of claim 1 , wherein the coupler-antenna has multiple resonant frequencies to provide antenna operation in more than one frequency band.4. A self contained heat exchanger useful for reducing the operational temperature of a solid state device utilizing mixtures of two or more coolants within a hermetically sealed chamber or chambers. The present invention includes embodiments that are useful for removing heat from a semiconductor electronic device. The present invention provides a low boiling point coolant that boils at the operational temperatures of the semiconductor devices to agitate a higher boiling point coolant that remains in liquid state. Movement of the higher boiling point coolant is instrumental in uniformly transferring heat from the heat source across metal radiator surfaces due to the excellent surface contact of the heat rich high boiling point liquid. The chamber surface then uniformly radiates the heat into the surroundings. At equilibrium, boiling action of the lower point liquid coolant and condensation on the metal surface create recirculation paths within the present invention that enhances heat transfer. The entire device may rest squarely on top of the semiconductor package and does not require any active mechanical components or external power or maintenance.

The system operates, in a ramp, open loop start up mode and digital velocity controlled braking mode while in the motional mode with the feed back as described above. At start up, provision is made for inserting the feed back loop when the velocity reaches some predetermined level or percentage of the desired velocity.

The invention provides a diagnostic paradigm based on each of these tests and combinations of these tests to select cancer patients who will benefit from EGFR inhibitor therapy, as well as a diagnostic paradigm to select cancer patients who will not benefit from EGFR inhibitor therapy.

The base member on its rear face includes an adhesive surface for adhering the display device to the vehicle. The sleeve member utilizes a flexible, zippered sleeve or envelope with a transparent front, with the display indicia item being inserted into the sleeve through the zippered edge, which is thereafter zippered closed. The base and sleeve members form an accordion-type fold, in which the fold faces are adhered together during use using an adhesive with lesser holding strength than that used to adhere the base member to the vehicle. To remove the display device from the vehicle, the forward fold member carrying the sleeve structure is initially pulled away from the rear fold in a first direction toward the joined edge of the fold, overcoming the lesser strength adhesive, with the then pulled-away, forward fold being effectively used as a gripping handle and pulled back in the opposite direction to reliably remove the base member from the vehicle surface. In an alternative embodiment (FIG. 4) suction cups on tabs are provided to affix the display device to, for example, the rear window of the vehicle using the suction cups.

The length of the second portion is between 50% and 75% of the predetermined length. The total length of the laser emitting device is between 3 and 6 inches. The radial portion of the flange is flush with the second of the club when the laser emitting device is secured in the bore.

METHODS FOR PREDICTION OF CLINICAL OUTCOME TO EPIDERMAL GROWTH FACTOR RECEPTOR INHIBITORS BY CANCER PATIENTS Abstract Disclosed are biomarkers, methods and assay kits for the identification of cancer 5 patients who are predicted to benefit, or not to benefit, from the therapeutic administration of an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor. The biomarkers of the present invention include detection of EGFR and HER 2 gene amplification and polysomy, EGFR protein expression, EGFR mutations, phosphorylated Akt protein expression, and various combinations of such biomarkers, as well as the combination of these biomarkers with 10 mutations in the tyrosine kinase domain of the EGFR gene. Increased EGFR gene copy number, increased HER2 gene copy number, increased EGFR protein expression, activated AKT protein expression (phosphorylated AKT) and EGFR mutations are all associated with better outcome for cancer patients treated with EGFR inhibitors. The invention relates to a diagnostic paradigm based on each of these tests and combinations of these tests to select 15 cancer patients who will benefit from EGFR inhibitor therapy, as well as a diagnostic paradigm to select cancer patients who will not benefit from EGFR inhibitor therapy.
