Disclosed are various embodiments for the visualization and analysis of therapeutic regimen effects on human physical performance metrics. In one embodiment, data is obtained respecting at least one population of individuals having a respective physical impairment. The data indicates for each of the individuals a respective subset of a set of therapeutic regimens used to treat the respective physical impairment, and a set of performance measures of the respective individual following the respective subset of the set of therapeutic regimens. The data is analyzed to automatically determine a reduced set of therapeutic regimens and a reduced set of performance measures. A user interface is generated that facilitates a comparison of individual ones of the reduced set of therapeutic regimens to the reduced set of performance measures for the at least one population.

The present invention relates to the provision of a portable kit that permits reliable and quantifiable analysis of trihaloamethanes and haloacetic acids within drinking water samples utilizing a hand-held (portable) fluorescing detection instrument for simultaneous measurements of such species. With the necessity to chlorinate drinking water to remove harmful bacteria and other potential toxins, trihalomethane and haloacetic acid byproducts are generated during such a disinfecting procedure that may harm humans after consumption as well due to highly suspect carcinogenicity. A reliable manner of measuring such drinking water supplies for such disinfectant byproduct levels is highly desirable, particularly through the utilization of a relatively inexpensive analytical instrument for such a purpose. The inventive kit-based analytical method of the invention has been found to be nearly as reliable as source measuring methods for the same purpose, providing a relatively quick measuring method that may be undertaken at any drinking water source location. 1. A portable kit for analyzing drinking water samples comprising:a) a capillary membrane sampling module comprising:a capillary membrane sampling device, a 2-channel pump, and at least two volumetric flasks;b) a nicotinamide fluorescence chemistry module comprising:reagent supplies of nicotinamide and a base, and at least two vials for mixing said nicotinamide reagent and said base reagent with at least two different water stream samples;c) a fluorescence detector module comprising:a hand-held fluorescence detector and at least two cuvettes that may be introduced within said fluorescence detector; andd) an accessories module comprising:a covered water bath that may be heated to at least 80° C. and an ice bath, wherein both said baths can hold both volumetric flasks within said capillary membrane sampling module simultaneously, and a thermometer to monitor the temperature of both baths;wherein all of said modules are ...

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An impact printer of the dot matrix type capable of printing in either the forward or reverse direction. Means are provided for determining the position of the print head at any given instant. Upon completion of a line of print the print head is abruptly halted. The next line of characters is examined to determine the end points of its character field. Comparisons are made to determine whether the print head lies within or beyond the end points. In cases where the print head lies beyond the end points of the character field, the printing occurs by moving the head in a direction toward the closest end point and then printing. If the print head occupies the location between the end points the position of the head is loaded into a pair of counters which are simultaneously counted up and down respectively. The outputs of the counters are continuously compared against the values representing the end point locations whereupon the first favorably comparison determines the shortest distance of print head travel for starting printing. High speed electronic circuitry is provided for storing data representing the next line to be printed in both forward and reverse formats whereupon the decision as to the direction in which data is printed automatically controls the appropriate storage medium. Novel video detection means is provided both for de-termining the direction of head movement at any instant and for controlling the printing positions. The use of delayed strobes derived directly from the video control allows printing to start immediately from the rest position, and provides accurate registration of delayed strobes relative to strobe pulses regardless of the velocity of the carriage.

Fully automated sequential injection analysis method for preconcentration of haloacetic acids in drinking water samples

The utilization of a specific preconcentration protocol within an automated, on-line drinking water analysis method to amplify detection levels of individual halo acetic acids is provided. The proposed sequential injection analysis procedures allow for measuring such levels in drinking water samples from remote locations with post-column reaction of ion chromatography (PCR-IC). The novel remote preconcentration method injects such known concentrations via a syringe at regular intervals in a manner to provide a baseline measurement that accords a reliable comparison with the unknown amounts present within the drinking water samples at issue. In such a manner, the on-line, remote system provides the necessary reliability for a water utility or like entity on which to base any further needed water treatment activities without having to perform such measurements in a distinct lab setting.
