An orthopedic fixation device comprising:a tulip element including a body having a bore therethrough and arms extending upwardly from the body to define a U-shaped channel;a bone fastener having a head and an extension that extends from the head, wherein the head is configured for loading into the tulip element;a locking clamp assembly positioned in the bore of the tulip element, wherein the locking clamp assembly comprises a wedge element and a clamp element to secure the bone fastener in the tulip element; anda non-threaded locking cap including a body having a lower tab that extends from a lower end of the body and an upper tab that extends from an upper end of the body, wherein the upper tab is positioned above the lower tab, and a protuberance extends from the upper tab to the lower tab.2. The device of claim 1 , wherein an interior surface of each arm comprises a slot and a recessed surface above each slot.3. The device of claim 1 , wherein an outer surface of each arm includes a groove configured to engage a tool.4. The device of claim 3 , wherein the groove includes a first angled portion connected to a second angled portion.5. A crystalline material sufficiently pure for use in pharmaceuticals may be made by forming a saturated solution of the material, changing the temperature of the solution so it becomes supersaturated, and subjecting the solution to irradiation by high intensity ultrasound, the frequency of the ultrasound being scanned over a range of frequencies. For example the ultrasound may be varied between 19.5 and 20.5 kHz, and this variation may be sinusoidal. Preferably the ultrasound is provided only briefly, say for less than 5 s, before allowing the solution to cool gradually without further irradiation. The ultrasound may be applied using a vessel with an array of ultrasonic transducers attached to a wall, so each transducer radiates no more than 3 W/cm2 yet the power dissipation within the vessel is between 25 and 150 W/litre. This method can reduce the metastable zone width to less than 10 K. It is applicable in particular to aspartame.

One example of such a clamp is an in-line clamp that includes a central opening for receiving a rod member, a first opening for receiving a set screw and a second opening for receiving an elastic member therethrough. Another example of such a clamp is an off-set clamp that includes an upper plate, a bottom plate, and an opening for receiving a rod therein. The upper plate can be separated from the bottom plate to make space for an elastic member that can be secured within the plates. A system is configured to generate render targets based on instructions received from a source of video content. The system is configured to create and/or access a selection parameter and use the selection parameter to identify one or more of the render targets to be scaled. Once identified, the system scales a native size (e.g., a native resolution) of an identified render target to a larger size (e.g., based on a predetermined scaling factor), thereby generating a higher density render target. An apparatus for dispensing measured quantities of liquid such as beer comprises a measuring chamber 16 adapted for connection separately to a source of supply and a reservoir 42, and means 21, 22, 18, 19 for closing communication between the measure and both the source and the reservoir prior to dispensing. The means for closing communication between the source and the chamber is in the form of a valve 21 adapted to co-operate with a seat 22 and actuated by means of racks 26 and pinions 24 secured to a shaft 25 which can be rotated by a handle 15. A valve 18 loaded by a spring 30 is arranged to co-operate with a seat 19 in order to close communication between the chamber and reservoir. An outlet valve 31 is provided and is adapted to slide over an outlet pipe 32 communicating with a spout 12 via an aperture 37. In operation, with the apparatus in the position shown, beer under pressure is fed via an inlet pipe 13 into the chamber where it rises into the reservoir up to the line 23. Application of axial seed magnetic fields in the range 20-100 T that compress to greater than 10,000 T (100 MG) under typical NIF implosion conditions may significantly relax the conditions required for ignition and propagating burn in NIF ignition targets that are degraded by hydrodynamic instabilities. Such magnetic fields can: (a) permit the recovery of ignition, or at least significant alpha particle heating, in submarginal NIF targets that would otherwise fail because of adverse hydrodynamic instability growth, (b) permit the attainment of ignition in conventional cryogenic layered solid-DT targets redesigned to operate under reduced drive conditions, (c) permit the attainment of volumetric ignition in simpler, room-temperature single-shell DT gas capsules, and (d) ameliorate adverse hohlraum plasma conditions during laser drive and capsule compression. In general, an applied magnetic field should always improve the ignition condition for any NIF ignition target design.

Diaphragm pumps are used to pump liquids and include rods passing through an enclosure to effect the return movement of the diaphragm. This invention relates to a new diaphragm pump which eliminates the need for these rods. The new pump has an air chamber (26) and a pumping chamber (30) separated by a composite diaphragm (16, 18). The compressed air supply in the air chamber (26) moves the diaphragm which performs a pumping motion. The return movement of the diaphragm is effected by evacuating the air chamber (26) while supplying compressed air to another air chamber formed between the first diaphragm (16) and the second diaphragm (18) of the composite diaphragm. The difference in surface area between the membranes is sufficient for the composite diaphragm (16, 18) to straighten itself to draw fluid into the pumping chamber (3) ready for the next pumping movement of the diaphragm.
