Exposure of digital imaging

The present invention relates to an electronic equipment (10) for imaging which includes the following component: a camera device (CAM) which uses the preset exposure parameter (ET, AG, DG) to form the picture frame (FRp, FRc), a device (11) which confirms the total exposure amount (EV) according to at least some picture frames, and an exposure parameter adjusting device (12) which adjusts the exposure parameter basing on the confirmed exposed total exposure amount. Otherwise, the equipment (10) also includes a motion detecting device (13) for detecting movement from at least some picture frames. In the equipment the exposure parameter is collocated that the exposure parameter is adjusted according to the exposed total exposure amount and the detected movement.

This invention relates to compression of prediction error in motion compensated video coding schemes. Prediction frame and motion vectors are used to extract useful information about the properties of the prediction error signal, e. g. its location, directionality, etc. This information does not need to be transmitted because the decoder of the proposed system includes means to extract this information. Information extracted by the encoder and decoder is used to adapt prediction error coding scheme which gives substantial bitrate reductions.
