PISTON AND COMPRESSOR

PURPOSE: To suppress the generation of a friction heat between a piston and a piston ring and to suppress decomposition due to the heat of ester oil by providing a groove formed in the side periphery of a piston and a piston ring, formed of polyimide, fitted in the groove. CONSTITUTION: In a cylinder 10 and a piston 9, ring grooves 11 formed in the peripheral side of the piston and piston rings 12 fitted in the respective grooves 11 are provided. During reciprocating movement of the piston 9, the piston rings are slid as they are rubbed against the inner side of the cylinder 10. Further, the ring grooves 11 of the piston 9 and the piston rings 12 are also delicately rubbed against each other in linkage with reciprocating movement of the piston 12. In which case, the piston 9 and the piston rings 12 are formed of a material having low friction against each other. For example, alumite treatment is applied on the piston 9 side which is combined with the piston rings 12 formed of polyimide.

CONSTITUTION: A cylinder 8 has a joint part the strength of which is increased by joining together steels having the same material as each other through welding of a closed container 1 to a steel plate 16 formed by a material having the same quality as that of the container during tack weld 17. Since, in the cylinder 8, heat during the tack welding 17 is transferred through the steel plate 16, the influence of a thermal strain at a thermal stress is reduced compared with a case in which the closed container 1 is welded directly to the cylinder 8. Since the steel plate 16 is attached integrally with the cylinder 8 during casting, a mechanical stress during mounting is prevented from being exerted on the interior of the cylinder 8.
