Anti-proliferation safeguards for nuclear fuel salts

An anti-proliferation technique is disclosed to reduce the likelihood of nuclear proliferation due to the use fissionable fuel salts. The technique includes doping the fuel salt with one or more elements (referred to herein as activation dopants) that, upon exposure to neutrons such as would occur in the fuel salt when a reactor is in operation, undergo a nuclear reaction to, directly or indirectly, form highly active “protecting isotopes” (of the same element as the activation dopant or a different element). A sufficient mass of activation dopants is used so that the Figure of Merit (FOM) of the fuel salt is decreased to below 1.0 within some target number of days of fission. This allows the FOM of the fuel salt to be controlled so that the fuel becomes too dangerous to handle before to the creation of a significant amount of weaponizable isotopes.

In one aspect, a value sensed by a sensor component is converted at the transmitter device to an agnostic value defined by a dimensionless universal scale and offset. The agnostic value is then sent to a data acquisition database where it is converted back to the original value. This is accomplished by first providing the data acquisition database with a sensor definition of a scale and offset used to convert the sensor values in addition to any sensor indicia and other parameters to display the data acquired at the data acquisition database. The wireless sensors database and user interface are also automatically updated when a new sensor type is attached to the network utilizing configuration data that resides in the new sensor that is sent to the database on its first connection.

The front part of the nozzle is surrounded by a cylindrical surface sealed with respect to the measurement chamber in the front face of the nozzle pre-chamber, in the manner of a plug. When the front part of the nozzle is swivelled, a compensating flow may be generated within the nozzle prechamber which surrounds the nozzle, so that the quality of the jet blowing in the wind tunnel is only imperceptibly affected, if at all, by the swivelling movement. To allow flow-acoustic problems to be analyzed with changing wind direction, the wind tunnel may be provided with sound insulating and sound absorbing arrangements, as well as with an absorbing lining.
