A multi-picture image printing system includes a reception portion for receiving a plurality of recording mediums sequentially, each recording medium carrying a plurality of pictures; a multi-picture image generator operable to read the plurality of pictures recorded on each recording medium and generate a multi-picture image based on the read plurality of pictures; a printer operable to print the generated multi-picture image on a sheet; a medium discharger operable to discharge recording mediums; a sheet discharger operable to discharge printed sheets; a storing unit including a plurality of containers for containing discharged recording medium and printed sheet; and a controllers operable to control the medium discharger, sheet discharger, and the storing unit to place a recording medium and a printed sheet bearing a multi-picture image having pictures recorded on the recording medium in the same container.

An image projecting apparatus for projecting an image recorded in a microfilm incorporated in a cartridge on a screen, for example, is furnished with a loading device which has a container storing a plurality of cartridges detachably attached thereto. The cartridges in the container are sequentially loaded at a prescribed position of a roll film carrier by a loading mechanism of the loading device and subjected to screening of a microfilm for retrieval of a desired image. The cartridge containing the microfilm which had undergone the screening is extracted from the prescribed position and returned to the container by a discharge mechanism. The discharge mechanism returns the cartridge loaded at the prescribed position via a path independent of the path used by the loading mechanism for moving the cartridge. An image fixing device for an image forming apparatus, comprises a hollow cylindrical fixing roller, and cylindrical pressure roller which is kept in contact with the fixing roller so as to rotate in accordance with rotation of the fixing roller. The pressure roller cooperates with the fixing roller to form therebetween a nip extending in a direction of the longitudinal axes thereof and serving to receive a sheet to which a toner image is transferred. The fixing roller is provided with a heater for locally heating the inner wall of the fixing roller at a location corresponding to the nip to fix the toner image to the sheet.

A fixing device has a hollow fixing roller, and a pressing roller pressingly contacting the fixing roller to cooperate with the fixing roller to form a nip portion therebetween so as to fuse and fix a toner image onto a recording paper. The fixing device also has a heating element arranged within the fixing roller at a position eccentric from the axis of the fixing roller toward the nip portion, to locally heat the inner wall of the fixing roller at a position corresponding to the nip portion, so as to decrease the time necessary to heat the fixing roller, to prevent offset, and to prevent the recording paper from being wound onto the fixing roller.

The controller acquires, from the image sensor, a plurality of images generated by the image sensor successively imaging the measuring object while the driver is driving the drive object in accordance with a predetermined driving pattern, and outputs the plurality of images.
