The liq. contains an ester which is fluid at the use temp. and comprises an ester of an aliphatic 8-16C dicarboxylic acid and an 8-16C alcohol and/or an ester of a polyvalent alcohol and an aliphatic 8-16C carboxylic acid. Also new is the use of the liq. as soldering flux, a liq. for hot-oil-levelling, as a melting bath liq., as a carrier medium for hot-air-levelling and/or as a carrier medium for IR melting process. The ester is pref. of trimethyl adipic, dodecane dicarboxylic or azelaic acids with an aliphatic 8-16C alcohol, esp., (iso)octyl and/or decyl alcohol. Or the ester is of an (un)satd. 8-16C fatty acid with an aliphatic 4-8C polyol with 3-6 hydroxy gps., esp. sorbitol, inositol, pentaerythritol and/or trimethylol propane. The ester is pref. dioctyl or octyl-decyl 2,2,4-trimethyl adipate, dioctyl dodecane dicarboxylate, diisooctyl azelate trimethylo propane tripelargonate and/or pentaerythritol tetraoleate.
