The inventive method comprises the following steps: placing a piece of leather configuring the leather layer on a heatable shaping surface of a form tool, applying a first quantity of a melt of the thermoplastic polymer at a first pressure onto the leather, closing the forming tool while producing a negative mold and finishing the shaped part at a second pressure that is higher than the first pressure. The heatable forming surface is heated to such a temperature during finishing that the leather is not damaged. The invention further relates to a shaped body obtained by such a method. The shaped body so produced has a so-called soft touch of the leather surface and is extremely resistant to the influences of temperatures and moisture.

The invention relates to thermoplastic molded masses comprising, A) from 10 to 98.9% by weight of at least one thermoplastic polyester, B) from 0.01 to 50% by weight of, Bi) at least one highly polycarbonate branched or hyperbranched, or, B2) at least one highly branched or hyperbranched polyester of the type A ~ x ~ B ~ y ~ where x equals at least 1.1 and y equals at least 2.1, or a mixture thereof, C) from 0.1 to 10% by weight of at least one naturally occurring epoxidized oil or fatty acid ester, or a mixture thereof, and D) from 0 to 60% by weight of other additives, where the sum of the weight percentages of components A) to D) is 100%.
