The invention discloses a fault diagnosis device of a diesel engine. The fault diagnosis device comprises a storage unit, a detection unit and a matching unit. The storage unit is used for storing feature values of feature parameters obtained when different faults occur to the diesel engine, and the feature parameters comprise at least one of the vibrating acceleration speed, the vibrating speed, the vibrating displacement, the vibrating frequency and the rotating speed of the diesel engine. The detection unit is used for detecting the feature parameters in the work process of the diesel engine. The matching unit is used for matching the feature parameters detected by the detection unit and the feature values stored by the storage unit to obtain the matching ratio, and if the matching rate is higher than a preset value, the diesel engine breaks down. The invention further provides a fault diagnosis method of the diesel engine. Automatic fault diagnosis can be achieved.
