Water tank having a moulded overflow

The invention relates to an overflow shape 1, moulded into the wall of a water tank or water tank panel 2, to create a method of removing excess water which is entering the water tank. The tank may be moulded from plastic or glassfibre reinforced plastic. The moulded overflow may have a cowl 3, holding an insect/vermin mesh 4, in place. The mesh may be stainless steel. A water collection moulding 5 may be located under the overflow to collect water exiting the overflow. The overflow may comprise alarm sensors (7 & 8 figure 9). The tank may comprise encapsulated strengthening ribs 10.

A tank or cistern comprises flanged panels with seal recesses (8) in the outer faces of the flanges to contain a seal (7). The panels, which may be of reinforced plastics, may have a foam insulating layer (9) between layers (3) and (4), and have a curved rebate (5) at the base of the flange, so that leakage from the base of the tank can be located. Adjacent panels are bolted together, and flat areas (11) perpendicular to the bolt axes are provided on the flanges.

The container may be made from a number of flanged modular parts and preferably the DWI approved coating is applied to the parts prior to them being assembled on site. Alternatively, the container may be of moulded unitary construction. A second invention comprises a container having a material (Y, Figures 8 and 9) applied to any bolts, nuts, washers etc to provide an effective seal. A third invention comprises a container having a roof or lid support of L, T or I cross-section.

A panel includes a flange which is, preferably, integrally moulded with the panel, which in use is fastened to a tank base. Preferably the panel is made from reinforced plastics material, the base from concrete and sealing material located between the flange and the base. The panel may be a laminate, have an internal skin or may include an external strengthening beam. In an alternative embodiment, brackets may be used to attach the flange to a base.
