In various embodiments, the handwriting may include characteristics of particular classes (302) and/or characteristics of particular individuals (304, 402). The handwriting includes an appropriate degree of randomness (306) so as to be realistic in appearance. In a particular embodiment of the invention, at least one sample of a particular individual's handwriting is scanned (402) and analyzed (404) to determine the characteristics thereof. The handwriting characteristics include a degree of randomness (306, 308) representative of the scanned handwriting sample(s) (408). The handwriting may be printed on a conventional printer (106), for example to generate a communication for a recipient.
