A method of bending a long member , comprising:applying a tensile force, which increases from an initial tensile force, to said long member to draw out said long member in a lengthwise direction thereof;measuring a displacement of said long member after commencement of said application of said initial tensile force; andbending said long member by applying a correction tensile force and a bending pressure for bending said long member into a curved shape in said lengthwise direction simultaneously to said long member upon said displacement exceeding a predetermined tensile fracture threshold value within a predetermined period of time or after a lapse of said predetermined period of time without said displacement exceeding said tensile fracture threshold value, wherein said correction tensile force is smaller than said tensile force at the time said displacement exceeds said tensile fracture threshold value or said tensile force at said lapse of said predetermined period of time.2. An underground water channel is provided in an underground of a large depth, and rain water and the like flow into this underground channel from flood control channels, conduits and rivers through vertical shafts. A pump well of a pump station is connected to a downstream end of the underground channel, and water flowing into the pump well is discharged by a pump to a discharge tank. The pump is disposed generally at a medium water level of the underground channel, and a lowest water level L.W.L enabling draining is the medium water level of the underground channel. In an open channel flow operation of an open channel-closed channel mixed flow operation, water level of the underground channel is maintained at the lowest water level L.W.L, so that the underground channel is in an open channel condition. In the closed channel flow operation, the underground channel is fully filled with water, and further water level rises into the vertical shafts, so that the underground channel is in a closed channel condition. By changing an outflow factor in accordance with rainfall patterns, the rate of flow into the vertical shafts can be accurately estimated, so that the large-depth underground drainage facility can be run in a stable manner.

A well plate is formed with a well for holding a subject to be sucked by a suction nozzle on an inner bottom part and storing liquid and, a clearance forming member for forming a clearance to allow the liquid to flow in a state where a tip part of the suction nozzle is inserted into and held in contact with the well is provided in the well. According to the present invention, the clearance enabling the liquid to flow is formed even in the state where the tip part of the suction nozzle is inserted into and held in contact with the well in sucking the subject held in the well by the suction nozzle. The suction nozzle can suck the liquid around through the clearance and the subject held in the well is efficiently sucked through the suction port along the flow of the sucked liquid.

A Co-based alloy exhibits superior high-temperature strength and resistance properties. In one embodiment, the Co-based alloy contains, in weight percent, from about 0.1 to about 1.2 of C; from about 0.01 to about 2 of at least one of Si and Mn; from about 22 to about 37 of Cr; from about 5 to about 15 of Ni; from about 0.1 to about 3.5 of Re; with a balance being Co and incidental impurities. Co and C, Si, Mn, Cr, Ni, Re, B, Zr, W, Mo, Ta, and Nb impart high-temperature wear resistance to the alloy to withstand repeated temperature cycling in a glass spinnaret. In one embodiment of the present invention, Hf is added to improve molten glass corrosion resistance, while Y and other rare earth elements are added in alternate embodiments to improve high-temperature oxidation resistance. Percentages by weight are disclosed for enhanced high-temperature oxidation resistance, increased fluid wear resistance and enhanced molten glass corrosion resistance.
