An adjustable width roller blind assembly comprising a roller having a longitudinal axis, a generally rectangular screen formed from a flexible sheet material having an upper marginal edge securable to the roller, wherein the roller comprises substantially cylindrical and axially aligned first and second roller sections, and an intermediate section located between and telescopically received within the first and second roller sections to permit adjustment of the length of the roller by adjusting the overlap between the first and second roller sections and the intermediate section, wherein the upper marginal edge of the screen is provided with a releasable fastening means adapted to releasably attach the screen to the first and second roller sections, said releaseable fastening means comprising a substantially rigid elongate member adapted to engage the first and second roller sections, bridging the gap therebetween by the intermediate section, when the screen is attached to the roller to support the screen when it is wound onto the roller.

SCREEN ASSEMBLY

A screen assembly for a window includes a pair of parallel and spaced apart side rails locatable against respective sides of a window opening, and a head assembly including a roller upon which is wound a screen. The head assembly extends between the side rails and is adapted to be mounted on upper ends of the side rails to be supported thereon against and/or adjacent to an upper side of the window opening. Each side rail is linearly extendable whereby the upper and lower ends of the side rails frictionally engage upper and lower faces of a window opening to secure the side rails, and the head assembly mounted thereon, in place within the window opening.

The screen assembly may comprise a foot (12 fig.3) at each end of the side rails which is linearly extendable from the rail by a driving means such as a threaded rod (14 fig.3). The head portion may comprise a elongate hollow housing 20, to enclose the roller, featuring a pair of end caps 24, said end caps may include an outward biasing means for fitting the width of the window opening.
