An expert network in connection with keeping and finding information provides a textual search engine which, in response to a user query comprising a search term, uses a semantic vector to promote documents that contain other, closely related terms that strongly correlate with the search term. A social graph is generated for the user in which connections for the user comprise hyper-dimensional relationships based on semantic vectors that link the search term with a collection of the other, closely related terms. A personalized semantic vector for the user is applied to the social graph. The expert network applies the user's personalized semantic vector to locate experts in the user's social graph based on a user query topic. When a connection is considered an expert for the user, content that the connection kept is recommended to the user.

Abstract of the Disclosure The gap between an insertion hole formed in a covering of a ladle and an electrode inserted through the insertion hole is sealed by sealing means. The sealing means has a cap seal longitudinally and slidably fitted over the electrode. A base seal is hermetically disposed between the cap seal and the covering in such a manner that a gap is provided between the electrode and the base seal. The base seal has a gas injection nozzle intended to discharge a gas toward the electrode and another gas injection nozzle intended to discharge the gas downwardly. The use of the base and cap seals enables securing the sealing functions thereof despite any movement of the electrode, thus preventing the pickup of [N] as well as the reoxidation of molten steel. When a gas seal is effected by the formation of a flow of gas rotating around the electrode about the axis thereof, the sealing performance can be more enhanced. Further, when the base seal is cooled by causing cooling water to be circulated therethrough, its durability can also be enhanced.

The problem above is solved by the invention in a way which follows. When rigidly securing the HDA in a translational motion direction while attaining soft fixation in a direction of rotation, the HDA (1) is rotatably supported with its center of gravity being as the center of rotation in a soft secure/support mechanism as taught from Published Japanese Patent Application No. 8-161880 (JP-A-8-161880) for example; however, in the case of employing one of commercially available general purpose HDAs, this is disposed so that a bent or curved portion of its cable is identical in position to the rotation center or placed at a nearby location of the gravity center to thereby preclude the stiffness of an FPC cable (301) hardly affects such rotatable support mechanism. This makes it possible to minimize creation of a torque posing a bar to free rotation of the HDA, which in turn enables mounting of the general purpose HDA thereby permitting wide spread of soft securing techniques. It is possible to facilitate popularization of a scheme for mounting a magnetic disk drive into portable or mobile equipment.

A compressor receives a plurality of characters in a character string, and encodes the input character string to generate an encoded string. The encoding preserves the original binary order of the input character strings in the encoded strings. A predicted character is generated for each character based on prior character sequences in the character string. In one embodiment, a hash based predictive technique is used to generate the predicted characters. A correct order indicating token is generated for an input character if a predicted character, corresponding to the input character, is the input character. The compressor stores the order indicating token in the encoded string to represent the character. However, if an input character has a binary representation greater than a binary representation of a corresponding predicted character, then a failure greater than token and the input character are stored in the encoded string to represent the input character. A failure less than token and an input character are stored for an input character in the encoded string if the input character has a binary representation less than a binary representation of the predicted character. Thus, binary order is preserved in the encoded string. With the binary order preserving compression technique, data may be sorted while the data are still compressed. Prefix bits compression and dynamic token generation are also disclosed.
