Method and System for the improvement of the QoS support in de-centrally organized wireless networks. The IEEE 802.11 is enhanced so that the effects of contention of traffic classes with the same priority, that are competing for access to the transmission medium is reduced, thus guaranteeing QoS requirements. Stations that want to transmit, will begin transmission of an signal once they sense that the transmission medium is idle. This signal is transmitted for a number of time slots depending on the priority of the traffic class the station wants to transmit. Once this transmission is over the stations will again sense the medium. If it is busy the stations will resign from transmitting and wait till the next access cycle. If the medium is idle, then the stations will perform a random back-off and then begin to transmit. This random back-off is used to avoid any contention between stations that have the same traffic class priority as the station with the lowest random back-off will begin to transmit first.

Described is a method for providing seamless handover support for a mobile host (MH) in a communication network wherein the communication between the mobile host (MH) and a peer node (CN) is based on a Host Identity Protocol (HIP) connection. An original connection between the mobile host (MH) and the peer node (CN) is established via a first attachment node (PoA1) to which a first care-of-address (CoAl) is assigned. Thereby, at least one security association (SA) is used. The mobile host (MH) indicates the peer node (CN) to use a further node (MB) having an identifier being different from an identifier of the mobile host (MH) for the at least one security association (SA) within a connection between the mobile host (MH) and the peer node (CN). A temporary connection between the mobile host (MH) and the peer node (CN) via the further node (MB) is established. The further node (MB) is informed about the first and a second care-of-address (CoA1, CoA2) which is assigned to a second attachment node (PoA2) and has been detected by the mobile host (MH), wherein the mobile host is still connected to the first care-of-address (CoA1). Data from the peer node (CN) to the further node (MB) is sent which passes the data via the first and the second attachment nodes (PoA1, PoA2) to the mobile host (MH). A communication between the mobile host (MH) and the peer node (CN) is based on a HIP connection via the second attachment node (PoA2).
