An apparatus for closing a container includes closer stations. Each closer station has a closer tool, a coupling element, and a driver. The coupling element, with height-control, is positively guided to rotate about a machine axis thereof. Additionally, the coupling element, by way of the driver, drives the closer tool in a required vertical motion. 16-. (canceled)7. An apparatus for closing a container , said apparatus comprising closer stations , each of which comprises a closer tool , a coupling element , and a driver , wherein said coupling element , with height-control , is positively guided to rotate about a machine axis thereof , and wherein said coupling element , by way of said driver , drives said closer tool in a required vertical motion.8. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said driver comprises a connection arm and a guide sleeve claim 7 , and wherein said guide sleeve is attached to said closer tool.9. The apparatus of claim 7 , further comprising a container carrier for carrying said container claim 7 , wherein said container carrier is vertically immovable.11. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said closer tool comprises a shaft claim 7 , wherein said shaft comprises a fixed-position shaft-portion and a movable shaft-portion.12. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said closer tool comprises a telescopic shaft.13. The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein said closer tool comprises a variable-length shaft.14. The apparatus of claim 7 , further comprising a container carrier claim 7 , wherein said container carrier is borne on a linear guide of said driver claim 7 , and wherein said container carrier is vertically immovable.15.
