[Also in Division B7] A ring-shaped body, such as a steering wheel, comprises over its entire outer surface a layer formed of wood veneer in sheet form curved both in the direction of the rings circumference and its cross-section. The body may comprise a plurality of wood veneers 2, Fig. 1, around a core 1, or a single veneer 3, Fig. 3, around a filler 5, which may be moulded wood shavings, wood chips, pulp or fibre, between the veneer and a core of strong material, such as steel. The grain of the outer layer of veneer may be circumferential to the ring or at 90 degrees thereto, and the grain of adjacent layers may cross each other. The ring may be formed by two half shells, 6, 7, Fig. 6a, which are disposed about a core and abut at faces 8; the faces may be in different planes to accommodate recesses for spokes extending to the core.
