A controllable hydraulic oscillating slide machine includes an inner rotor arranged in a housing and having cylindrical recesses. A bearing is formed in the housing, in which a co-rotating outer rotor is mounted eccentrically to the inner rotor, the outer rotor having several pivotably suspended slide drivers that engage into the recesses of the inner rotor for rotationally driving the outer rotor by way of the inner rotor and form modifiable chambers. The slide drivers may each be coupled to a piston that is guided in a respective associated recess. A pressure level different from that in the chambers between the inner and the outer rotor may be set in the chambers delimited by the recesses and the associated pistons so that two different pressure levels may be generated and two different consumers can be supplied using the oscillating slide machine.

An inert gas atmosphere of nitrogen and carbon dioxide is created in a refrigerated container having a diesel engine. A lower oxygen content is maintained by an oxygen limit control while the nitrogen is led into the interior of the container from a gas bottle connected with the container when the predetermined oxygen limit value is exceeded. While the inert gases are being supplied, a constant flow of cold gaseous nitrogen is produced by an electrical evaporator in the liquid nitrogen storage tank and connected to the generator of the diesel engine while carbon dioxide is removed from the gas bottle, heated, released to a constant pressure and fed into the container via throttle points constituting a parallel-switched group of such throttle points which can be individually activated.

In reservoirs which are operated using liquid nitrogen as coolant there is often the need to be able to read off the particular level of the liquid nitrogen in a direct optical fashion at the reservoir. Such an optical read off is facilitated by a tube (5) which comes from the bottom of the reservoir and is pressurised with liquid nitrogen. The tube is led to the outside through the insulation of the reservoir to its upper rim and connected to a manometer (6). Because of the ingress of heat, there is gaseous nitrogen in the tube (5), leaving aside the region near the bottom. Depending on the level, this nitrogen is under a specific pressure, so that the display of the manometer (6) is a direct measure of the level. In addition, the manometer display can be used to operate an automatic refilling and alarm system, for example by means of inductive miniature proximity switches (14). <IMAGE>

Prior art radiation hardening installations have an entry area, a radiation chamber and an exit area, through which the parts to be irradiated pass in succession. The radiation chamber is filled with inert gas. Both the entry area and exit area comprise lock systems in order to ensure inerting. However, turbulent or convective flow phenomena lead to a more or less sizeable introduction of oxygen, which has to be compensated for by an increased supply of inert gas. In an inventive installation, the radiation chamber is provided in the form of a tower, whereby a lower section of the tower is connected to the entry or exit area, and the devices for irradiating, such as UV or electron emitters, are arranged in the upper section of the tower. The continuous supply of inert gas into the upper section permits the formation of an ejection gas cushion, which effectively prevents the introduction of oxygen into the radiation chamber.
