The systems and methods described herein relate to a device which enables oceanographic surface buoy mooring systems to detect and monitor underwater noise at most sea state and weather conditions. Coupling of C3d molecules or ligands of CD21 or CD19 to an antigen alters the level of immune response to the immunogen upon its administration to an individual. For C3d, the magnitude of the effect is dependent on the number of C3d molecules included in the conjugate. Conveniently, C3d molecules or CD21/CD19 ligands are coupled to an immunogen in fusion polypeptides which may be produced by expression from encoding nucleic acid, for instance by culturing host cells containing the nucleic acid. Other means of associating the molecules include chemical cross-linking and co-expression on the surface of a carrier structure. Administration of compositions comprising, in a preferred embodiment, C3d molecules and an immunogen of interest may be used prophylactically (by virtue of the immunological memory induced) or therapeutically. The administration may be for the purpose of raising antibodies to the immunogen. A T-cell response may also be induced.

A combustion turbine provided with a plurality of catalytic combustors (30) each of which includes a combustor basket (40) coupled to a transition duct (38) through a catalytic unit (36). The combustor basket is provided with a primary nozzle (20, 44) at its upstream end to provide fuel for conventional flame combustion in a primary zone (50). A plurality of secondary nozzles (16, 46) are provided for fuel injection through the basket sidewall at the downstream end of the primary zone (50). A fuel preparation zone (54) is provided within the basket from the secondary fuel injection location to the catalytic unit (36) to provide uniform mixing of the fuel in the gas flow before entry to the catalytic unit. Flame combustion in the primary zone (50) provides preheating needed to raise the secondary fuel mixture temperature to a level required for catalytic activity. The secondary fuel mixture passes through an outwardly flared diffuser (56), which forms an end portion of basket (40), before entering the catalytic unit. The diffuser enables use of a small path diameter for satisfactory fuel mixing in the basket as compared with the large path diameter needed for catalytic combustion.

METHOD OF APPLYING INSULATING MATERIAL TO WINDINGS IN ELECTRICAL MACHINERY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of applying solventless varnish to stator windings in electrical machinery. A magnetic core having a plurality of stator windings disposed in the slots of the core is positioned above a tank containing a solventless varnish, and the tank is then raised to immerse the end turns of the windings on one end of the core into the varnish. The windings are energized to heat them and the varnish which adheres to the end turns. The tank is then lowered and the stator and windings are inverted so that a portion of the varnish which adheres to the end turns flows downwardly through the slots of the stator. This is repeated until varnish begins to flow freely through the slots to the other end, thereby indicating that good coating of the winding within the slots has been accomplished. Next, the current through the windings is increased to raise the temperature of the end turns of the windings to the gel point of the varnish, and the end turns on both ends of the stator are then alternately dipped into the varnish bath to build up a protective coating on the end turns. Once a sufficient thickness has been achieved, the current through the windings is increased further to raise the temperatures of the windings to the point where the adhered varnish cures. The stator is then placed in an oven for several minutes to cure the varnish on components that are not heated by the resistance heating of the windings, such as the winding leads and slot insulation.

In a centrifugal pump assembly, one side of the shaft has a larger diameter for the impeller to abut against. The other side of the shaft may be fitted with an impeller locking collar comprising two portions that can be threaded together and hold the impeller in place by tightening against a ring element such as a split ring or spiral lock. Anti-rotation to avoid loosening of the impeller locking collar may be achieved by providing counter threads against a shaft rotation. Secondary anti-rotation may be provided by one or more set screws in the impeller locking collar.
