Coupler comprising first and second jaws 18/26 for attaching a tool 16 to an excavator arm. At least one clamp 18/26 has a latching mechanism 28/30. The catch mechanism 28/30 retains a pin 24/25 of the excavator accessory within the jaw. A magnet 80 engages the locking mechanism 28. The magnet may be a permanent magnet. There may be first and second latch mechanisms associated with the first and second jaws. The two latch mechanisms may be connected to cause movement of one another. There may be a gravity operated blocking bar 58. Safety pins may be included to secure the latches in the locked position. A second independent claim concerns a similar coupler with a safety pin instead of the magnet.

The coupler further comprising an actuator arrangement comprising two linked hydraulic actuators 78 & 80. The first of the actuators 78 is for selectively moving both the blocking member 100 and the first latch 74 and a second of the actuators 80 being for selectively moving the second latch 64, wherein the hydraulic link is such that activation of hydraulic pressure in the actuator arrangement in a manner intended for causing a retraction of the second actuator, for retracting the second latch towards the second latch's retracted position, also causes an actuation of the first actuator to extend that first actuator so as to move at least the first latch into its non-latching position.
