The half-pin a carries an arm b on which bears a spring c (which may be of india rubber) in a straight slot f in a plate d carried by the driven shaft. A screw g is used for adjustment. Stoppers.-Kerosene tins and other receptacles are formed with a socket A, Fig. 2, to receive the screw or other hollow stopper B, which has an extension C adapted to serve as a spout, when the stopper is withdrawn and inserted in the reverse position, as shown in Fig. 4. The end E of the spout may be normally closed by a plug &c., or by a disc of tagger tin &c. In the latter case, the disc is cut cut when the contents of the vessel are to be discharged. The stopper is provided with a wire bridge-piece D, to facilitate its insertion &c., and a packing-washer F of asbestos &c. is employed to form a tight joint.
