The present invention relates to a composition, which contains chloroform fractions, obtained by fractionating an alcohol extract of Dianthus chinensis L.var. chinensis, or activated fractions, obtained by sequentially performing silica gel column chromatography and ODS column chromatography with respect to the Silica gel column chromatography and ODS column chromatography, as active ingredients, for treating, preventing, or alleviating stomach cancer. The composition of the present invention has excellent activity of inhibiting growth of stomach cancer cells resulting from over-expression of a fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2), has activity of selectively inhibiting only stomach cancer cells without influence on growth of normal cells, and thus can be advantageously used for an agent for treating stomach cancer or health functional food for preventing and alleviating stomach cancer.
