In a method of making concrete articles, in particular bricks or slabs, the steps shown in Fig. 1 are carried out in the following sequence (a) a mould 1 is placed on a mould support 2 having a non-adhesive surface, (b) a smooth surfaced supporting board 3 is slid with a smoothing action under the concrete articles after they have been compacted, but before the mould has been removed, the mould support 2 being simultaneously diplaced, (c) the mould is removed and (d) the articles are removed from the moulding area on supporting board 3 and mould support 2 is moved to regain its initial position.
