In this sliding bearing, which is provided with a resin coating layer at the surface of a bearing alloy layer layered at a back metal layer, a PAI that degrades with difficulty at high temperatures is used as the main component as the resin binder of the resin coating layer, adjustment particles are included in the resin binder, and as a result, the compressive strength of the resin coating layer is increased, and indentations of the resin coating layer resulting from a shaft are prevented. Meanwhile, a plate solid lubricant is included in the resin binder, and thus sliding characteristics are improved. Also, delamination due to cracks is prevented by the effect of adjusting the orientation of the solid lubricant and the damming effect of the adjustment particles, and thus superior anti-seizure property is provided even in an engine that frequently repeats starting and stopping.
