A refractory insulating composition is described which is characterised by at least 20 to 50 % by mass of aluminium silicate powder, 3 to 5 % by mass of sodium fluorosilicate, 20 to 30 % by mass of waterglass and 30 to 60 % by mass of tertiary clay pellets, at least 70 % by mass of the loose components being formed by grains of a size up to 0.6 mm. Owing to its improved physical properties, the insulating composition according to the invention is particularly suitable for brick-lining of thermal engineering structures and in fire protection.

The invention relates to a building structure, in particular a chimney for industrial purposes, which comprises individual, prefabricated reinforced concrete parts which are connected to one another by means of a vertical reinforcing element. According to the invention, the chimney comprises reinforced-concrete parts, in the wall of which there are provided, on the circumference, at least three through-channels in which parts of the vertical reinforcing element which have been screwed together are mounted. These are cast with cement mortar in the channels of the individual reinforced-concrete parts. A reinforcing ring may be incorporated between the upper part and lower part of the building structure. On the one hand, the vertical reinforcing element of the actual building structure passes through said ring and, on the other hand, tie members of at least three reinforcing ribs are anchored in said ring. The invention solves the problem of reducing the mass and the manufacturing price of this material whilst maintaining all other properties. The essence of the invention consists in the material comprising at least one layer of a heat-resistant fabric provided at least on one side with a protective layer of 1.0 to 5.0 % by weight of sodium fluorosilicate, 30 to 60 % by weight of water glass and, substantially, expanded fly ash and/or glass-making sand as a remainder. Furthermore, the composition of the protective layer and the addition of the further components for various applications are given.
