According to the application, the positioning device can be located between the piston rod, or the cylinder wall (2), and the relevant ball socket. The adjuster (1) has a cylinder which contains a pressurised substance, and which has a piston and connecting rod (13). The latter passes through a guide and a seal (21) at one end of the cylinder. The adjuster is connected to base and swivelling bodies using connecting components, and has at least one element in either connection chain which melts in the event of a fire, in order to release one end of the cylinder. The adjuster then adopts a first emergency extension position, from which a second such position can occur if further heat is supplied, and in the latter position the seal on the piston is bridged. The bridging action may be achieved by an indentation (33) in the rod.
