A flat-screen monitor support comprises a body 20 having means 60 for attachment of a monitor thereto and a locking means 40 operable to lock against a support post 102 extending through the body and through the locking means. The locking means supports the body to prevent the body from sliding down the post under the weight of a monitor attached to the body. The body can rotate relative to the locking means about an axis of the support post 102 when the locking means is locked to the support post. A ring 41 carries a bearing sleeve 44 on which the body can rotate and a friction pad 53 is driven against the post 102 by a threaded member 51. A tilt adjust mechanism 80 engages a surface 62 to allow tilting of monitor engagement plate 61 relative to the body. In addition, a support base for securing the support to a table D comprises a support plate 140 secured to one end of the post 102 and rotatably mounted in a seat cup 110 to sit on the table surface. A clamp bracket 130 sits on the support plate with a tightening means 156 which engages beneath the table to clamp the support plate, seat cup and table together.

Methods for protecting a pore-containing dielectric material are provided. In one aspect, prior to plasma etching, an organosilicon compound is deposited onto a pore wall of the pore, the compound including a plasma-protective functional group that resists plasma damage and a reactive functional group that attaches to the pore wall. In a further aspect, after plasma etching, an organosilicon compound is deposited onto the pore wall, the compound including a reactive functional group that reacts with a reactive group produced in the dielectric material by the plasma etching, and further including a crosslinkable group or a bulky group. Reaction of the reactive functional group with the reactive group produced by plasma etching forms a coating.
