A flexible container (10) is provided for the storage and mixing together of diluents and medicaments. The container incorporates multiple compartments (18, 22), separated by peeled seals (24, 26), in which the diluents and medicaments are stored. The container is constructed of thermoplastic materials having high oxygen and moisture barrier properties which allows the container to be stored for extended periods of time without degrading the contents. The seals are ruptured by manipulation of the container to thereby mix the contents together for delivery through standard IV arrangement to a patient. The seals are constructed to provide a non-linear resistance characteristic to hydraulic pressure, which causes the seal to peel open completely along its length. The container also includes a locking tab (28) and retaining slot (27) to secure the bag in a folded over condition.

A method for forming a flexible container (10) for combined storage and administration is described. The method comprising the steps of sealing flexible front and rear sheets (12, 14) together at a common peripheral edge (16); heating the front and rear sheets (12, 14) in a first localised area to form a first peelable seal (24) extending between two sides of the common peripheral edge (16), the first peelable seal (24) separably joining the front and rear sheets (12, 14) to thereby form a first compartment (18) for containing a first product; and heating the front and rear sheets (12, 14) in a second localised area to form a second peelable seal (26) extending between the two sides of the common peripheral edge (16), the second peelable seal separably joining the front and rear sheets (12, 14) to thereby form an outlet compartment (22) and a second compartment (20) for containing a second product, the second compartment (20) being between the outlet compartment (22) and the first compartment (18). For ease of manufacture and filling first and second sacrificial ports (102, 104) are provided which are interposed between the front and rear sheets (12, 14) and are in communication with the first and second compartments (18, 20), respectively; with the first compartment (18) is filled with a first product through a respective sacrificial port (102); the second compartment (20) is filled with a second product through a respective sacrificial port (104); and the seal along the common peripheral edge (16) is completed and the sacrificial ports (102, 104) are removed from the container (10).
