In an exercise system having a remote communication system adapted to communicate with an exercise device, a method for generating an exercise program includes receiving route information identifying a route traveled by an individual during a real world exercise session, receiving audio information identifying a musical selection listened to by the individual during the real world exercise session, using the route information and the audio information to generate an exercise program. The exercise program includes control signals that cause an exercise device to substantially simulate the topographical characteristics of the route traveled by the individual during the real world exercise session, and audio signals representative of the musical selection listened to by the individual during the real world exercise session so that the musical selection is presented during a performance of the exercise program.

A computer-implemented method , comprising:receiving, by a hardware processor, data describing a challenge relating to at least one physical activity;receiving, by the hardware processor, data describing at least one reward for completing the challenge;tracking, by the hardware processor, progress of the challenge;analyzing, by the hardware processor, the tracked progress to determine whether the challenge is completed; andupon determining the challenge is completed, delivering, by the hard processor, the reward.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein delivering the reward comprises transmitting an electronic message claim 1 , wherein the electronic message comprises the reward.3. A computer-implemented method to generate a customized workout routine based on a physical fitness goal of a user is described. Data relating to an exercise apparatus is retrieved. Profile information for a user of the exercise apparatus is analyzed. A customized workout routine is generated for the user to implement with the exercise apparatus. The routine is based on the analyzed profile information of the user and the retrieved data relating to the exercise apparatus. 1. A computer-implemented method , comprising:retrieving, by a hardware processor, data relating to an exercise apparatus;analyzing, by the hardware processor, profile information for a user of the exercise apparatus; andgenerating, by the hardware processor, a customized workout routine for the user to implement with the exercise apparatus, wherein the routine is based on the analyzed profile information of the user and the retrieved data relating to the exercise apparatus.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein analyzing the profile information comprises identifying at least one goal relating to physical fitness.3.
