An LED light source which emits light from all angles, comprises a support 1, a chip 2 and a wavelength conversion layer 3, the support comprises a planar main body 11 and two pins 12, the chip is provided on the upper surface of the planar main body and is connected with the pins through bonding wires 4, and the wavelength conversion layer covers the planar main body, such that the chip is encapsulated in the wavelength conversion layer, and the pins are connected with an anode and a cathode of a power supply respectively. As the LED light source has a transparent back surface light can be emitted from the back and the front of the device. As a reflector cup is no longer required to direct the light, a thicker wavelength conversion layer can be used. In one embodiment a colloidal supporting layer 5 is used which does not contain fluorescent powder. A further transparent protective layer 6 may be included which may comprise silica gel, silicon resin or epoxy resin.
