The invention discloses a new process for preparing low-calcium lanthanum oxide by chemically removing calcium. The low-calcium lanthanum oxide is prepared by controlling precipitation reaction conditions, using lanthanum chloride solution as a raw material, using oxalic acid as a precipitator and controlling the main factors such as solution concentration, precipitation time and the like which affect the CaO content of the lanthanum oxide. The CaO content of the lanthanum oxide prepared by using the oxalic acid precipitator is less than 0.01 percent. The process cancels a production line for removing the calcium by extraction, meets the requirements of different customers and reduces the production cost.
