The invention discloses a new process for preparing low-calcium lanthanum oxide by chemically removing calcium. The low-calcium lanthanum oxide is prepared by controlling precipitation reaction conditions, using lanthanum chloride solution as a raw material, using oxalic acid as a precipitator and controlling the main factors such as solution concentration, precipitation time and the like which affect the CaO content of the lanthanum oxide. The CaO content of the lanthanum oxide prepared by using the oxalic acid precipitator is less than 0.01 percent. The process cancels a production line for removing the calcium by extraction, meets the requirements of different customers and reduces the production cost.

In a P507-kerosene-HCl system of the production process, solvent extraction is adopted to separate and purify rare earth chloride solution rich in gadolinium into high-purity gadolinium chloride solution by utilizing the variation of extraction rate and distribution ratio and the difference of separation factor of saponification acidic phosphorus type extracting agent P507 on rare earth element to obtain gadolinium oxide product of 99.995%. The process adopts extracting agent purification technology and rare earth exchanging purification washing technology, therefore, the consumption of raw materials is low, the quality of products is stable, and the indicators of various rare-earth and non-rare earth impurities are far superior to congeneric products in the national standard.
