The invention provides an application of a catalyst in a process of synthesizing deuterated methanol by a CO-CO2 system. The catalyst is prepared by the following steps: coprecipitating a Cu source, a Zn source and an Al source to obtain a precursor, performing an impregnation method on the precursor and a rare earth nitrate solution, and roasting. According to the invention, the catalyst with a specific structure and composition is used in the process of synthesizing deuterated methanol from a CO-CO2 system, and efficient synthesis of deuterated methanol from a D2-CO-CO2 system is realized through rare earth doping and reaction condition optimization; and moreover, the distribution of active elements on the surface of the catalyst is increased through combination of rare earth doping and two-stage roasting, and the conversion rates of D2, CO and CO2 are greatly improved.
