An electric power supply 100 has high-voltage circuitry 125 converting a high-voltage, direct-current (HVDC) input 107 to multiphase high-voltage, alternating-current (HVAC) output 108, for example to power an electric appliance (e.g. an electric motor), and low-voltage circuitry 165 to power the auxiliary and control electronics controlling and managing the high-voltage circuitry as well as handling the system monitoring. The high voltage circuitry may comprise one or more DC pre-charge capacitors 116 and one or more power transistor switches 124. An electric power supply 100 for an electric motor comprises high-voltage, direct-current (HVDC) circuitry to convert HVDC input power 107 to multi-phase, high-voltage, alternating-current (HVAC) output power 108. Low-voltage, direct current (LVDC) circuitry controls and monitor the multi-phase HVAC output power. A housing contains the HVDC circuitry and the LVDC circuity. The LVDC circuity comprises: a gate driver board 175 for one or more power transistor switches 124, a controller board 170 to monitor and transform input control signals to signals to supply to the gate driver board, and a lightning board 180 to protect incoming signals from voltage spikes and extending from signal input connectors at the front of the housing to the controller board at the back of the housing.
