Packet validation in virtual network interface architecture

Номер: US0009912665B2

Roughly described, a network interface device receiving data packets from a computing device for transmission onto a network, the data packets having a certain characteristic, transmits the packet only if the sending queue has authority to send packets having that characteristic. The data packet characteristics can include transport protocol number, source and destination port numbers, source and destination IP addresses, for example. Authorizations can be programmed into the NIC by a kernel routine upon establishment of the transmit queue, based on the privilege level of the process for which the queue is being established. In this way, a user process can use an untrusted user-level protocol stack to initiate data transmission onto the network, while the NIC protects the remainder of the system or network from certain kinds of compromise.

Hashing algorithm for network receive filtering

Номер: US0009594842B2

Roughly described, a network interface device is assigned a maximum extent-of-search. A hash function is applied to the header information of each incoming packet, to generate a hash code for the packet. The hash code designates a particular subset of the table within which the particular header information should be found, and an iterative search is made within that subset. If the search locates a matching entry before the search limit is exceeded, then the incoming data packet is delivered to the receive queue identified in the matching entry. But if the search reaches the search limit before a matching entry is located, then device delivers the packet to a default queue, such as a kernel queue, in the host computer system. The kernel is then responsible for delivering the packet to the correct endpoint.

A method of STA-initiated uplink (UL) aggregation is proposed in a wireless communication system. A method of performing contention-based uplink OFDMA transmission is proposed in accordance with one novel aspect. A wireless communications station (an AP) reserves both dedicated resource and contention resource for uplink OFDMA operation for a list of communications devices (STAs). For contention-based random access, the AP does not need to collect traffic requests from the STAs. The AP only needs to make simple resource arrangement. Each STA having traffic request will contend the resource based on a random access probability scheme. 1. A method for random access , comprising:(a) generating a first random number to determine a probability to contend for random access in a wideband wireless communications network using uplink orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) by a wireless communications device;(b) receiving a first frame specifying a second allocated number of resource units (RUs) for random access, wherein the first frame carries timing and duration information of the random access RUs;(c) determining whether the device is allowed to contend for random access based on the first random number upon receiving the first frame;(d) updating the first random number and increasing the probability to contend for random access if contention is not allowed, wherein the device waits for subsequent random access; and(e) selecting an RU in accordance with a predetermined rule and transmitting a second frame via the selected RU if contention is allowed, wherein the device re-generates the first random number for subsequent random access.2. Normalizing weights of weighted tree leaf nodes

Номер: US20210158192A1
Принадлежит: International Business Machines Corp

Nodes of a weighted tree each have their own weight. A normalized weight of a node, relative to other nodes in the tree, is determined based on a proportional weight of the node and a lesser unique sum of the node, as well as those of the node's parents and grandparents, up to a root of the tree. The proportional weight and lesser unique sum of a given node depend only on the unique weights of the sibling group including the given node. Thus, if a weight is modified, the normalized weight can be updated without necessarily recalculating the entire tree.

STA Initiated Uplink Aggregation in Wireless Communication Systems

Номер: US20160157266A1
Принадлежит:

A method of STA-initiated uplink (UL) aggregation is proposed in a wireless communication system. Under the STA-initiated UL aggregation, an STA can gain access to the medium through contention and after winning the TXOP, it passes the TXOP ownership to its AP to allow it to trigger UL MU transmission. Thus, the AP has increased chance of utilizing the medium while maintains fairness to both legacy APs and STAs. In addition, once AP takes over ownership of the TXOP, if it detects idle secondary channels, it can enable UL aggregation over the idle secondary channels, thereby fully utilizing the entire system bandwidth. 1. Adaptive CCA and TX Power Level Adjustment for Dense Deployment of Wireless Networks

Номер: US20160174079A1
Принадлежит:

A method of spatial re-use with TPC and adaptive CCA is proposed. A spatial re-use station detects spatial re-use information associated with other peer OBSS stations. The spatial re-use information comprises a TX spectral density (power/Hz) and received signal or interference information of each inter-BSS peer station. The spatial re-use STA determines a TX spectral density based on the detected spatial re-use information. The spatial re-use STA then contends the medium for spatial re-use transmission opportunity (TXOP) with an intra-BSS peer station. Finally, the spatial re-use STA starts spatial re-use frame exchange with the intra-BSS peer station using the determined TX spectral density. By adjusting the TX spectral density, the spatial re-use STA adapts its CCA level to spatially reuse the medium without causing collision and interference to OBSS stations and thus increases network throughput. 1. A method performed by an initiating wireless station , the method comprising:detecting spatial re-use information associated with one or more detected overlapping basic service set (OBSS) stations engaging an ongoing frame exchange;determining a transmit (TX) power or power density level and an adjusted clear channel assessment (CCA) level based on the detected spatial re-use information; andattempting to initiate a spatial re-use frame exchange with a responding wireless station in concurrent with the ongoing frame exchange of the detected OBSS stations.2.
