This invention discloses a preventing mechanism of the axial movement of a drive shaft in a hermetically sealed scroll type compressor so as to protect the members disposed within a hermetically healed housing from the abrasion and breakage by the vibration. The compressor includes a drive mechanism operatively connected to an orbiting scroll which orbits within a stationary scroll. The drive mechanism includes a drive shaft of which the both ends penetrate the center of a pair of inner blocks and are rotatably supported by a pair bearings, respectively. The pair of bearings are fixedly supported by the pair of inner blocks, respectively. Each of the bearings includes an inner race, an outer race and a plurality of rolling elements rollingly disposed between the inner and outer races. The drive shaft engages with the inner race of the bearings so as to prevent the axial movement thereof. Accordingly, the collision between the drive shaft and the internal component parts of the compressor is effectively prevented so that the internal component parts of the compressor are protested from the abrasion or breakage due to the offensive vibration.

A method for assembling a motor driven fluid compressor having a compression mechanism, such as a scroll type fluid compression mechanism and a drive mechanism which are contained within a hermetically sealed housing is disclosed. The compression mechanism includes a fixed and orbiting scrolls. The drive mechanism includes a drive shaft and a motor rotating the drive shaft. The housing is divided into a first and second cup-shaped portions and a cylindrical portion. An opening end of the first cup-shaped portion is releasably and hermetically connected to one opening end of the cylindrical portion. An opening end of the second cup-shaped portion is releasably and hermetically connected to another opening end of the cylindrical portion. A first, second and third sub-assemblies are separately prepared, and then are assembled into the compressor. The first sub-assembly is formed by the first cup-shaped portion and at least one internal component part of the compressor. The second sub-assembly is formed by the first cup-shaped portion and at least one internal component part of the compressor. The third sub-assembly is formed by the cylindrical portion and the remainder of the internal component parts of the compressor. Accordingly, the compressor can be easily assembled under a flexible management.

A method of insolubilizing noxious heavy metals contained in the fly ash collected from a waste gas discharged from a garbage incinerator. In order to make insolubilize the heavy metals, a chelating agent and water are added to the ash, and these materials are kneaded together to obtain a kneaded mass. This mass has a high alkalinity due to an alkaline substance added to the waste gas for the purpose of removing hydrogen chloride therefrom. The quantity of the water to be added to the ash is regulated so as to lower the pH value of the kneaded mass to 12 or below, whereby the reaction between the heavy metals and the chelating agent in the kneaded mass is promoted. Thus, the heavy metals are converted into water-insoluble chelate compounds owing to this reaction.

The center portion extends substantially from the inner end of the spiral element (202, 212) outwardly at least throughout the portions thereof which forms the center high pressure space when the two innermost pair of fluid pockets are merged into a single fluid pocket to form the high pressure space near the center of the scroll (20, 21). This construction prevents the abnormal wear between wrap (202, 212) and opposite end plate (211, 201) which is caused by axial slant of the scroll (20,21) or interior of extent parallelism between both scrolls (20, 21) without influence the sealing of the high pressure space.

HERMETICALLY SEALED SCROLL TYPE REFRIGERANT COMPRESSOR WITH AN IMPROVED LUBRICATING MECHANISM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hermetically sealed scroll type compressor includes a lubri-cating mechanism. The compressor includes a hermetically sealed housing and a motor driven drive shaft supported by a plurality of plain bearings in an inner block member. The drive shaft is provided with pin member at its upper end. The axis of pin member is radially offset from the axis of the drive shaft. The pin member is opera-tively connected to an orbiting scroll which orbits within a fixed scroll. A rotation preventing device prevents rotation of the orbiting scroll. The drive shaft includes an axial bore extending from a lower end thereof to a lower end of the pin member. A centrifugal pump is provided at a lower end of the axial bore, and immersed in the lubri-cating oil pump at an inner bottom of the housing. A throttling device, such as an orifice tube, penetrates through the pin member. The lubricating oil at the inner bottom of the housing is supplied to the frictional surfaces of the slidable members of the compressor by operation of the centrifugal pump supplying lubricating oil through the axial bore and the orifice tube. The frictional surfaces can thereby receive a sufficient, but not excessive, amount of the lubri-cating oil at any rotational speed of the drive shaft so that the fric-tional surfaces are effectively lubricated.

A hermetic type scroll compressor includes a hermetically sealed compressor housing formed by first and second cup-shaped casings. A cylindrical housing portion is disposed between the first and second cup-shaped casings and has an annular inner block extending inwardly therefrom. The inner block divides the interior of the compressor into a first chamber in which the drive mechanism is housed and a second chamber in which the compression mechanism is housed. At one end, the drive shaft is supported by the inner block through bearings, and at the its other end, the drive shaft is supported by an annular projection extending from and integral with the second cup-shaped casing. Additionally, the stator is fixedly secured to the second cup-shaped casing. A gas passage, which allows the outer diameter of the compressor to be reduced, extends through the inner block to provide fluid communication between the first and second chambers.

A rotary machine, such as a horizontally oriented scroll type refrigerant compressor is disclosed. The compressor includes a compressor housing, an inner block fixedly disposed within the compressor housing, a drive shaft extending substantially in the horizontal direction, and a driven mechanism, such as a compression mechanism operatively connected to one end of the drive shaft. The drive shaft is rotatably supported by the inner block and the compressor housing. A shielding element, such as an annular cylindrical member is fixedly held between the inner block and the compressor housing so as to prevent the drive shaft from passing through an oil sump of the housing. An internal lubrication oil pump is formed by the elements which are associated with the drive shaft, and is operated by virtue of the rotational motion of the drive shaft in order to supply the lubrication oil from the oil sump to the frictional surfaces of the internal component parts of the compressor. According to the construction and operational manner of the oil pump, the oil pump can be used for the various types of the horizontally oriented rotary machine. Furthermore, the drive shaft can rotate without receiving oil viscous drag.

The present invention discloses a reliable rotation preventing/thrust bearing device for use in an orbiting member fluid displacement apparatus. The rotation preventing/thrust bearing device includes a discrete fixed portion, a discrete orbital portion, and bearing elements. The fixed portion includes a first annular race and a first ring, both of which are formed separately. The first annular race is placed in a loose fit surrounding a first annular step in an inner surface of the housing and the first ring is attached to the housing. The orbital portion includes a second annular race and a second ring, both of which are formed separately. The second annular race is placed in a loose fit surrounding a second annular step in an end plate of the orbiting member and the second ring is attached to the end plate of the orbiting member. A plurality of pockets of the rings face one another in generally aligned pairs. A bearing element is received in each aligned pair of pockets to prevent the rotation of the orbiting member by the bearing elements interacting with the first and second rings and to carry the axial thrust load from the orbiting member. The first and second annular anti-wear plates are overlaid surrounding the first and second annular races, respectively. The first and second annular anti-wear plates are fixedly placed within the first and second annular steps respectively in order to prevent the circumferential and radial movement thereof.

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention discloses a preventing mechanism for preventing the axial movement of a drive shaft in a hermetically sealed scroll type compressor so as to protect the members disposed therein from abrasion and breakage by vibration. The compressor includes a drive mechanism operatively connected to an orbiting scroll which orbits within a fixed scroll. The drive mechanism includes a drive shaft which penetrates the center of a pair of inner blocks and whose two ends are each rotatably supported by a bearing. The bearing is fixedly supported by the inner block. Each of the bearings includes an inner race, an outer race and a plurality of rolling elements disposed between the inner and outer races. The drive shaft engages with the inner race of the bearings so as to prevent the axial movement thereof. Accordingly, collision between the drive shaft and the internal component parts of the compressor is effectively prevented so that the internal component parts of the compressor are protected from abrasion or breakage due to vibration.
