The invention provides a preparation method of a magnetic composite oxide and the application of the oxide for serving as an adsorbent of negative ion pollutants. FeSO4 question mark 7H2O and Fe2(SO4)3 question mark XH2O are used for preparing a magnetic medium; an alkali liquor that is prepared by the magnetic medium, divalent metal ions, trivalent metal ions, NaOH and Na2CO3 is prepared into a magnetic houghite precursor; and the magnetic houghite precursor is baked to obtain a baked magnetic composite oxide. The baking product of the magnetic houghite precursor that is obtained by the preparation method is used for absorbing the negative ion pollutants in water bodies, has higher absorbing capacity, and can be easily separated and recycled after adsorption.
