Sign image recognition and center coordinate extraction method

The invention relates to a sign image recognition and center coordinate extraction method which comprises the steps of: firstly, finding a pixel with maximum gray value in a sign image by using a sign image recognition technology based on boundary searching, searching a boundary of a sign point towards the circumferential direction from the pixel, wherein the pixels contained in the boundary are all pixels included in the sign point; secondly, subtracting the gray values of all pixels in the found sign point from a gray threshold for denoising; and thirdly, calculating and extracting coordinates of a sign center in a pixel plane coordinate system by using a gray weighting centroid method and combining with position information of all pixels through using pixel gray values subtracted from the gray threshold as weights. The method has a small calculation amount and realizes accurate extraction of the coordinates of the sign image center.
